Title
"Assembléia de Saúde," Movimento de Saúde de São Mateus
Abstract
This flyer calls residents of São Paulo's eastern urban periphery to a meeting convened by the Movimento de Saúde de São Mateus to demand that the state finish construction of public health clinics and hospitals in the region. In 1983, the grassroots health movement in São Mateus played a key role in founding the Movimento de Saúde da Zona Leste, one of the largest and most successful popular movements during Brazil's transition from authoritarian (1964-1985) to democratic rule.
