Aside from its rather silly plot, Graffiti % Bridge suffers most from Prince s self-indulgent dwelling on spiritually and religion. It has never been clear in exactly what capacity Prince considers himself religious. In Purple Rain, he pretty much inferred that he was the Prince of Peace. Recall the lyrics of I Would Die 4 U : No need to worry, no need to cry, I m new Messiah and you re the reason why. In Purple Rain it just didn t seem to matter exactly what he meant by this. Tragedy strikes as Aura is run over by a Suzuki Samurai, but her mission has been accomplished already. The movie ends with a spiritual piece performed by the Kid (reminiscent, naturally, of Purple Rain ) and everybody leaves the theater weeping with a new outlook on life.
