Abstract (lang="eng")
An essay is presented concerning the unintended consequences of equality discourse which has been the focus of feminist writings on Iran and Iranian women. These consequences include legitimizing equality and gender difference discourses as a dichotomy and emphasizing the status of middle- and upper-class women with access to the legal system. Information on how women use their power to conduct their life and enable their survival is offered.
