The article focuses on the aspects of the tropical disease priority review voucher program proposed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), designed to respond on the challenges of developing of drugs following the outbreak of Ebola disease. Topics include the trends on the investment on research and development (R&D) of medicines for neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), the introduction of Orphan Drug Act (ODA), and the criticism on the deficiencies of the program.
