 The article discusses the shortage of execution drugs in the U.S. due to European pharmaceutical companies' efforts to prevent them from reaching American prisons due to moral and financial considerations. Topics addressed include the illegal procurement of drugs of unknown provenance by some states, death penalty abolition's role as a prerequisite for entry into the European Union (EU), and how capital punishment may threaten the financial, moral and legal interests of drug companies.
