The article looks at the evolution of the multilateral settings in which India participates, including global diplomacy, the Group of Twenty (G-20), international nonproliferation system, and international deliberations on climate change. Through the United Nation's (UN) General Assembly, India advertises its nonaligned solidarity and considers it as an important shaper of the global agenda. Observation shows the growing international economic profile of India with its role as a center of international finance within the G-20. India has also agreed to participate in negotiations for a Fissile Materials Cutoff Treaty (FMCT) and the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) as part of the U.S. civilian nuclear agreement. It also proposes a 20-25 percent reduction in carbon emissions by 2020.
