The article focuses on international efforts to fight desertification. According to the author, no disintegration of a natural resource has caused a more painful and tragic pathology than has desertification. He states that with the constant loss of fertile lands to wind and water erosion along with increase in population, each year the world has less soil to prolong its life support systems, food production and communities.
