 The article discusses economic development as a distinct issue in the politics of India. It mentions that the idea of economic development in the country emanates from the theory of the emergence proposed by William Riker as a means to analyze the economic condition of the country and offers an interesting modification of the spatial model of electoral voting. It adds that the concept of Riker recognizes the role of party strategy and rhetorics and the creation of a new political dimension.
