Abstract (lang="eng")
The article focuses on the importance of protecting intellectual property (IP) as to contributions of innovation to the creation of jobs and economic growth. Topics include having an IP regime that rewards and incentivizes innovative discoveries, registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) and IP market value as to patents, databases and copyrights. Also cited are the connection of IP to foreign direct investment (FDI) in industries such as pharmaceuticals and technology.
