- Abstract
- A lifelong resident of Fox Point, Charles Simon was born on December 25, 1920. He moved into his mother's house on Traverse Street in 1938 where he still lives with his wife Louise. He worked for 26 years at Bradley Children's Hospital in East Providence, R.I. and also coached swimming and basketball at the Fox Point Boys Club. An outstanding athlete throughout his life, he still continues to bowl every Monday with a league that began at the Sunnyside Lanes in Fox Point. He discusses the many changes he has seen in the neighborhood, including his time as the head of the Fox Point Neighborhood Association, during which he fought Brown University in their attempts to buy up properties in the neighborhood.
