- Elaine (Vezinho) Bonaccorsi was born in Fox Point on April 24, 1933. She lived at 72 Hope Street from her birth until she married and moved with her husband to a new home in Cranston, RI in 1963. Elaine was raised in a Portuguese home with parents who had both emigrated from St. Michael Island, in the Portuguese Azores. Her mother, Senorinaj came to America in 1900 as an infant, living in Fox Point on Sheldon Street. Elaine's father, Manuel, came to America around 1911 and grew in New Bedford. Elaine's parents met when they both worked for the American Screw Company, which was located on North Main Street in Providence, Rhode Island. When the company left Providence, Manuel, along with three other men named Manny, started a bar named after them (Manny's) on Wickenden Street. Elaine's father also rented out apartments in the family's home at 72 Hope Street. Elaine grew up in a Catholic home, and her family attended mass every Sunday. Her family was part of the Holy Rosary Church parish, though Elaine attended St. Joseph Cleary Elementary School. For high school she attended St. Marys Bay View Riverside, a Catholic girls school, graduating in 1951, and then went on to the Rhode Island Conservatory of Music, graduating in 1955, where she played and taught piano. Elaine met her husband, Richard Bonaccorsi in 1962 when they both worked for the auditing department at Rhode Island Hospital Trust Bank. Her husband, Richard, was born in Warwick, Rhode Island. The couple left Rhode Island for Massachusetts in 1972, moved to California in 1981, and again moved in 1996 to Arizona. They currently live in a retirement community in Sun Lakes, Arizona. The last time Elaine visited Fox Point was 1998, though she keeps in close contact with her childhood friends from the neighborhood.
