Abstract
Oral history interview with Om P. Devkota about owning and operating the Brickway on Wickenden Restaurant in the Fox Point neighborhood of Providence, RI.
Note: biographical
Om P. Devkota, 32 years old, currently owns a home on the East Side of Providence. When Om first moved to Providence in 1998, emigrating from Nepal, he lived in an apartment on Transit Street. Om came to the United States to attend Rhode Island College and then Johnson and Wales' MBA program. Oms wife, Sushila Sharma, moved to Providence to be with her husband about a year after Om, and they moved to another apartment in Fox Point. They have two children ages 9 and 4. They became the owners of Brickway on Wickenden Restaurant six years ago, after Sushila had been a waitress there. Om is the President of the Nepalese Association of Rhode Island; he believes there are over 250 Nepalese immigrants in the state, and he was one of the first five immigrants from Nepal to settle in RI.
