Interview with Steven Kotler Kotler, Steven interviewee Holtzman, Benjamin interviewer mixed material 2010-10-13 eng Oral history interview with Steven Kotler about owning a small used record shop in the Fox Point neighborhood of Providence, RI. Steven Kotler was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1947 to two Providence natives (Albert and Eileen Kotler). He received his BA (71) from the University of Rhode Island. Mr. Kotler opened Round Again Records in December 1979 after a two-year stint as the manager of The Improv, a renowned comedy club in New York City. Round Again was first located at 207 Wickenden St. (the current location of Coffee Exchange), where Mr. Kotler lived in a small apartment behind the store. In 1981, the store moved to 278 Wickenden, where it has remained for three decades. In this interview, Mr. Kotler discusses his experiences owning a small shop in Fox Point, how the neighborhood has transformed over the past thirty years, the ways in which running a used record store has and has not changed, and how he has been able to remain in business on Wickenden for over thirty years.
