Preprint edition of a review essay: the final version appears in The Public Historian Vol. 42.4 (2020): 164-72. https://doi.org/10.1525/tph.2020.42.4.164 This essay reflects on how museums and museum practitioners made use of social media in the wake of COVID-19, surveying crowdsourced initiatives, experiments in digital curation, and frustrations with institutional responses to employee concerns about racial inequity and labor, among other topics.
