Asia

Description

Notes:
João de Barros, royal cronicler, called attention for the use of the name Santa Cruz (Holy Cross) instead of brasil (from pau brasil, for its red color) in other not to please the devil (leaf 56, v.1). Gandavo would still claim for the use of Santa Cruz almost 20 years later.
João de Barros, apart from his account of the discovery of Brazil, is intimately linked with our country, having been one of its "donatários". (Moraes, R.B. de. Bib. Brasiliana)

Each volume has separate foliation, as follows: v.1: [2], 128 leaves; v.2: [2], 143 leaves.
