The Treaty of Amiens, an agreement signed by Great Britain, France, Spain, and the Netherlands, lasted for 14 months before it broke down. The British gave up all claims to the French crown and territory, including that of Haiti, the former French colony of Saint-Domingue. It did retain Trinidad and Ceylon. France separately agreed to return Egypt to the Ottoman Empire.
