Ogyego

Description

Abstract:
This group comes from the Brong Ahafo Region in Ghana. According to the festival program from the event, the Ogyego dance is an old social dance of the Cherepo people that developed as children gathered and played music on empty cans. Koetting states that the singers are female teenagers.

Instrumentation: bongos, congas (2), apentemma, dondo, tin can rattles, small iron gong, female voices (20)
