- Abstract
- This image portrays a banquet in the Naoum Theater of Costantinopole, given by the Italian community in 1862 to celebrate Giuseppe Garibaldi. A statue of the General was unveiled on stage before a banner reading "Viva Giuseppe Garibaldi" (Hurrah for Giuseppe Garibaldi). Garibaldi had lived in Costantinopole from 1828 to 1831, where he had supported himself teaching Italian, French, and mathematics.
