Abstract
The top image in this frame illustrates the historic handshake between General Garibaldi - who had just defeated and conquered the Kingdom of Naples - and Sardininan King Victor Emanuel II - who had just conquered the papal territories of Marche and Umbria, and would be soon proclaimed first King of Italy by the newly-constituted Italian parliament. The meeting took place in Teano, near Caserta, on October 26, 1860. The bottom image portrays Victor Emanuel's and Garibaldi's troops meeting on the countryside outside the Campanian town of Teano. This meeting concluded the General's famed "thousand-men expedition."
