This scene depicts one of the closing revels showing the crowd carrying lighted tapers and trying to put out each other's taper with a handkerchief or towel. After this goes on for about an hour, a gun is fired, the lights are put out and people eiher go home or to the ball; this lasts till eleven o'clock when the carnival is over and the fasting begins.
