Original wash drawing, initialed and dated 'R.C.W. 96'; mounted dervish chief with spear. In pencil '26th July 1896' and 'Lyegrove'
Notes:
Published in The Regiment, Aug. 13, 1898, page 313 as "Dervish Leader, Upper Nile". This drawing and a companion piece entitled 'Egyptian Cavallerie' were gifts of the artist to Mrs. C. Jacoby, wife of Charles Theodore Jacoby of Lyegrove House, Gloucestershire on July 26th, 1896.
