One of a collection of 11 partially hand colored, tinted or uncolored etched caricatures by and after Kay of soldier figures and groups showing uniforms. Later included in his A Series of Original Portraits and Caricature Etchings, published 1837-1838. Full-length figure of soldier (identified in pencil as Archibald Gilchrist)

Archibald Gilchrist was a haberdasher, magistrate, and member of the Edinburgh Volunteers.
