Stonewall Jackson

Description

Abstract:
Colored lithograph by Hanhart; full-length portrait in uniform, as young officer. The title has been cut from the top and pasted at the bottom. The image is based on a daguerreotype of Jackson when he was a Brevet Major taken during a visit to New York in 1851. It was modified by Mathew Brady to show Jackson in a Civil War-period uniform.
Notes:
Small upright folio; margins trimmed; separate caption pasted on at bottom; soiled.
