In the front row from left to right , are Admiral Chocheprat of the French navy; Mrs. Euguene Van Rensselaer, vice-regent for West Virginia of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association; Secretary Josephus Daniels; Miss Harriet Clayton Comegys, regent of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association; Marshal Joffre; M. Viviani, head of the French commission; Secretary Lansing; the Right Hon. A. J. Balfour, head of the British commission; the Hon. George E. Foster of the Canadian Cabinet; Sir Cecil Spring-Rice, British Ambassador to the United States, and Lieut-Gen. G. T. M. Bridges of the British commission--Behind M. Viviani is M. Hovelacque, Inspector-General of Public Instruction in France, and behind Sec. Lansing is the Marquis de Chambrun, a descendant of Lafayette.
