- This article takes as its starting point the coincidence between the celebration of the 50th anniversary of April 25th, which marked the end of the Salazar regime, and the significant re-emergence of fascist discourses, in which the concept of social order plays a central role, not only in Portugal but also in countries such as Brazil and the United States. To explore the challenges of understanding posed by this re-emergence, as well as the allure of the principle of the state of exception and its promises of maintaining order, the article turns to Fernando Pessoa’s intervention texts. The aim is to highlight a process of awareness similar to the “philo¬sophical astonishment” proposed by Walter Benjamin in thesis VIII of On the Concept of History.

- Este artigo tem como ponto de partida a coincidência entre a celebração dos 50 anos do 25 de Abril (em 2024), que marcou o fim do regime salazarista, e a significativa reemergência de discursos de orientação fascista, nos quais a ideia de ordem social desempenha um papel central, não apenas em Portugal, mas também em países como o Brasil e os Estados Unidos. Para explorar a dificuldade de compreensão imposta por essa reemergência, bem como pela sedução exercida pelo princípio do estado de exceção e suas promessas de manutenção da ordem, recorre-se aos textos de intervenção de Fernando Pessoa. O objetivo é evidenciar um processo de tomada de consciência semelhante ao “assombro filosófico” proposto por Walter Benjamin na tese VIII de Sobre o conceito de história.
