<p>You being now master of our <name><choice><abbr>Brigg.</abbr><expan>Brigantine</expan></choice>
<lb/>George</name>, our orders are as follows, first for you to proceed Im
<lb/>amediatly for <placeName>Surinam</placeName> with her & Cargo & on your arrival
<lb/>if you find <persName>Capt. Abraham Whipple</persName> there in our <name>Sloop Four
<lb/>Brothers</name>, you are Imediatly to deliver the <choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Brigg & Cargo into
<lb/>his care and Receive the Sloop aforesd into your Command
<lb/>and for your <unclear>Praqueset</unclear> for Conducting the <choice><abbr>Brigg</abbr><expan>Brigantine</expan></choice> there
<lb/>you are to have (besides your wages to be <choice><abbr>recd</abbr><expan>received</expan></choice> of us & priviledge you Cary
<lb/>in the <choice><abbr>Brigg</abbr><expan>Brigantine</expan></choice>) to recieve of <persName>Capt Whipple</persName> Two and a half <choice><abbr>?Ct.</abbr><expan>percent</expan></choice>
<lb/>for the whole Sail of sd <choice><abbr>Brigg</abbr><expan>Brigantine</expan></choice>s Cargo, <choice><abbr>wch</abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> you are to
<lb/>Estimate as near as you can & not to wait for the sails of her
<lb/>cargo to be Compleated but proceed in the <name>sloop Four Brothers</name>
<lb/>afores'd to <placeName>Barbadoes</placeName>, taking a Sufficientcy with you to
<lb/>pay port charges &c, and on your arrival at <placeName>Barbadoes</placeName>
<lb/>you are <seg type="slaveRef">if you find <persName>Capt. Esek Hopkins</persName> there in our
<lb/><name><choice><abbr>Brigg.</abbr><expan>Brigantine</expan></choice> Sally</name> to advise with him, & if he Sels his Slaves
<lb/>there to Load your Sloop with some of the Effects</seg>, and if he s'ees
<lb/>Cause to take the Sloop <del>the</del> & Come home in her himself
<lb/>you are to take the <choice><abbr>Brigg</abbr><expan>Brigantine</expan></choice> & go to <placeName>Saltatudas</placeName> &Load with salt

<p>and <seg type="slaveRef">if he (<persName>Hopkins</persName>) goes to <placeName>Jamaica</placeName> or Elsewhere
<lb/>with the <choice><abbr>Brigg</abbr><expan>Brigantine</expan></choice> to sell his Slaves, you are to take his his
<lb/>advise whether you had best go to <placeName>Saltatudas</placeName> or go in the
<lb/>Sloop wherever he Choses to go with the Brigg. in order
<lb/>to Load sd Sloop out of his effects with rum Sugar &c:</seg> —

<p>If <persName>Capt. Hopkins</persName> shod not have arrived at <placeName>Barbados</placeName>
<lb/>or Caut hear of his arrival at the other Islands (after you
<lb/>have been from <placeName>Barbadoes</placeName> to <placeName>Antegua</placeName> & <placeName>St Christopher</placeName>
<lb/>you may Imploy the Sloop at Freighting or any
<lb/>other
<pb id="div3"/>other Buisness you may think most for our Interests, till the
<lb/>Fleet sails for <placeName>Saltatudas</placeName>, with them we advise your going to
<lb/>Load with <del>with</del> salt unless <persName>Capt. Eseke Hopkins</persName> should
<lb/>arrive in the meantime & advise otherwise, or if <persName>Capt.
<lb/>Hopkins</persName> shod have arrived at <placeName>Barbadoes</placeName>, or any other Island
<lb/>& Departed from thence & not left any Certain <choice><abbr>Acct</abbr><expan>Account</expan></choice> of where
<lb/>he was going, you are to go freighting as aforesd. so as to
<lb/>go to <placeName>Saltatudas</placeName> with the Fleet, But In Case you find <persName>Capt
<lb/>Hopkins</persName> is Certainly gone to <placeName>Jamaica</placeName>, other Particular Island
<lb/>you are to follow him & when you find him <choice><abbr>delr</abbr><expan>deliver</expan></choice> our
<lb/>Letter & follow his advice — notwithstanding all the
<lb/>Above if <del/> on your Arrival at <placeName>Surinam</placeName> you find <persName>Capt
<lb/>Whipple</persName> & he thinks he Cannot get at least <unclear xml:id="tobacco">s three shivers
<lb/>?Ct</unclear> for all the Tobacco we have on board the <choice><abbr>Brigg</abbr><expan>Brigantine</expan></choice>, we advise
<lb/>your taking <measure unit="hogshead" quantity="20,30" commodity="tobacco">Twenty or thirty <choice><abbr>hh'd</abbr><expan>hogshead</expan></choice></measure> of it & go to <persName>Isaac Case</persName>
<lb/>& there sell it for good Bills of Exchange & proceed to <placeName>Barbadoes</placeName>
<lb/>After <persName>Capt Hopkins</persName> as aforesaid

<p>If on your Arrival at <placeName>Surinam</placeName> <persName>Capt Whipple</persName> shod
<lb/>not be there, You are to advise with <persName>Capt Geo Hopkins</persName>, &
<lb/>go emediatly to Selling the Cargo & Ingageing a <measure unit="load" quantity="1" commodity="molases">Load of
<lb/>Melasses</measure> on the best Terms you can & also endeavor with
<lb/><persName>Capt Hopkins</persName> to procure a Markett at a Certain price
<lb/>for <persName>Capt Whipple</persName>s Cargo</p>
<p>If you by any means sho'd be render'd Incapable
<lb/>of doing the Buisness of the Voyage before you get to, or
<lb/>leave <placeName>Surinam</placeName>, your mate <persName>Mr Jno Hopkins</persName> is to Act
<lb/>in your Place & follow our orders for the best of our Interests

<lb/><unclear>Impowered</unclear> to take the Command of her and finnish
<lb/>her Voyage Agreeable to our Instructions and allso
<lb/>in case he should, after your arrival be Rendered Incapa<lb/>ble of dewing the Business. Taking care in case
<lb/>he should not be Liveing but some other officer of his
<lb/>appointing Should be on bord that you may Reasonably
<lb/>think has Conducted and may Conduct for our Interests
<lb/>to advise and act Cordially so as to make not Difficulty
<lb/>or uneaising but Continue Such officer in Such Stasion
<lb/>as you may think he merrits Eiter by giving him the
<lb/>Command of our <name>Sloop four Brothers</name> or other ways and in
<lb/>General as we Report the Gratest Confidence in you
<lb/>you are impowerd and Requested to dew threw the Course
<lb/>of the Voyage in all things not Expresly ordered according to
<lb/>your best Judgment

<lb/>their, the Boats Rope for the same you have onbord , if you should not meet
<lb/>with <persName>Capt. Esek Hopkins</persName> & should have a Good offer for our <name>Sloop Four Brothers</name>
<lb/>you may sell her, but not under <measure unit="dollar" quantity="1800" commodity="currency">Eightteen Hund'd Doll's</measure>, in case you Git the
<lb/>New Sails aforesaid, Either to be paid in money or Good Bills of Exchange</p>
