Abstract:
First panel part of a silk-bound scroll by an anonymous Japanese artist of an American officer in formal dress and a Japanese boatman. The standing American is wearing a Naval officer's attire. He points a revolver at the Japanese boatman. The Japanese is wearing an haori [short loose jacket] and hakama [loose trousers].
Notes:
Part of a 12-panel scroll by an anonymous Japanese artist, origin unknown, but similar to other scrolls produced during this period, such as the Black Ship Scroll.
