Abstract
Photograph series of a set of 10 bas reliefs documenting the life of Abraham Lincoln, installed on the exterior of Lincoln Hall, at the University of Illinois. In sequence, the bas reliefs portray: (1) Lincoln as a Rail Splitter, 1830; (2) Lincoln as a River Boatman, 1831; (3) Lincoln as a Circuit Rider, 1849; (4) Lincoln and Douglas debate, 1858; (5) Lincoln's First Inaugural Address, 1861; (6) The 24th Massachusetts arrive to defend Washington, 1861; (7) "Abraham Lincoln, the Savior of the Slave," 1863; (8) Lincoln Delivers the Gettysburg Address, 1863; (9) Lee's surrender at Appomatox, 1865; and (10) A soldier returns home, 1865.
