- Abstract
- This thesis presents a measurement of the mass of the top quark. The
top quarks are produced through proton-antiproton collisions with
$\sqrt{s}$=1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider using the D\O\
detector. The method employed for the measurement is called the Ideogram
Technique. The events used in the measurement are selected such that
the top quark decay signatures (as seen in the detector) are at least
one lepton (electron or muon), four or more jets with at least one
of them tagged as originating from a b-quark and missing transverse
momentum. These events are then fitted using a kinematic fitter. The
event-by-event likelihood is calculated using templates that depend
on the kinematically reconstructed top quark mass. The events are
weighted by their probability to be signal or background, using topological
information. The measurement of the top quark mass is 175.7$\pm$1.98
$GeV/c^{2}$.
