Amor e metafísica em Alberto Caeiro Love and metaphysics in Alberto Caeiro Pinezi, Gabriel Universidade de Brasília Author articles articles June 2025 2025-06 por Portuguese 19 born digital The article aims to discuss the extent to which the brief collection of poems O Pastor Amoroso, attributed to Alberto Caeiro, engages with the Western philosophical and poetic tradition, considering that the correlation between loving and thinking is not, in itself, evident nor uni¬versally verifiable. We will therefore read Caeiro’s poems in light of the metaphysical tradi¬tion initiated by Plato and later revisited in the Middle Ages through Dante’s verses, in order to demonstrate that the sensationist defense of immediacy and simplicity by the Master ac¬tually reveals an intense critical dialogue with the philosophical and poetic tradition under¬lying Pessoa’s creative process. O artigo tem como objetivo discutir em que medida o breve conjunto de poemas O Pastor Amoroso, atribuído a Alberto Caeiro, dialoga com a tradição filosófica e poética ocidental, considerando que a correlação entre amar e pensar não é, em si mesma, evidente nem uni¬versalmente verificável. Leremos, portanto, os poemas de Caeiro à luz da tradição metafísica iniciada por Platão e retomada, na Idade Média, pelos versos de Dante, a fim de demonstrar que a defesa sensacionista da imediaticidade e da simplicidade do Mestre revela, na verdade, um intenso diálogo crítico com a tradição filosófica e poética subjacente ao processo criativo de Pessoa.
