Dixon, Hubert

Description

Abstract:
One of the leaders/founders of environmental justice organizing in the South; particular interest in working with young people. Initially worked for Kentuckians for the Commonwealth on strip mining abuses; mentored interns assigned to environmental justice organizations; regional organizer for Citizens Clearinghouse for Hazardous Waste; developed Southern Community Partners to give assistance to small environmental justice organizations; Louisiana Environmental Action Network; Carolina Alliance for Fair Employment; then became a 3rd grade school teacher.
