Letter describes the visit of Robert H. Barlow with HPL in Providence along with a genealogical chart showing that HPL and Barlow are both descended from the same John Rathbone born in 1658. Short note enclosed written on postcard-sized paper in which HPL notes he is sending reimbursement to Clark Ashton Smith for postage: "So here's a modest refund which conscience and a sense of justice impel me to make!". With envelope postmarked Sep 29, 1936. Envelope has autograph note from HPL with new address for Robert H. Barlow at the home of H.M. Langworthy in Kansas City, MO. Includes newspaper clipping with headline: "Finds no cannibals in Alaskan search." Bequest of Joseph E. Smith.
