One Image Tongue
Abstract
The complete first edit — videography, recording, and editing by Peter Bussigel — of a filmed performance of generative text based on 'The Image' from Samuel Beckett's <em>How It Is</em>, conceived, programmed, and composed by John Cayley. The text is a hybrid performance-targeted version assembled from two iterations of the generative code. The piece was performed by Ian Hatcher and John Cayley in 2011. An extract can be viewed on Hatcher’s website, http://ianhatcher.net/#!/video, and further edits will be made available over time. See also Cayley's website http://programmatology.shadoof.net/index.php?p=contents/imageZC0403tazza.html and "Brief Procedural Expositions & References" in the book <em>Image Generation</em>.
