The 84 lynchings which took place in the Unites States during the year 1919, are shown on the map by dots. (Three additional dots should appear―one in the State of Washington, one in Northern Mexico, and an extra dot in North Carolina). In addition, 40 race clashes and riots occured which are indicated on the map by crosses. (Two additional crosses should appear―one in Northern New York, and one in Arizona). In these race riots, 120 persons were reported killed, and 1,734 persons unjured.
