Writing desk made for the Gorham display at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. Also displayed at the Panama Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco in 1915
Notes
Materials: ebony, mahogany, boxwood, redwood, thuyawood, ivory, mother-of-pearl, silver, mirrored glass, and gilded tooled leather
Style: Art nouveau
Stamped with Gorham (lion, anchor, G) marks and "sterling" and "C/C/X" on backside of mirror
Signed: "WC Codman 1903", burnished along top right edge of center drawer.
Measurements of original: 48.5 x 54 x 30 in. (to the height of the mirror); 31 x 54 x 30 in. (to the height of the tabletop)
