<mods:abstract>Typhoid Fever is a common infection in Haiti, where a lack of public health and
sanitation infrastructure leads to yearly outbreaks. Infection with Salmonella Typhi has been
implicated in the pathogenesis of acute renal failure.1 Delays in obtaining antibiotic
cultures has led to a treat-first-diagnose-later approach. We investigated the role of various
iatrogenic factors in the rapid decline in kidney function associated with typhoid
      glomerulonephritis.</mods:abstract>
