Rhode Island's (RI's) population is substantially older than the national average and the unique needs of elderly trauma have implications for trauma system design and defining injury prevention goals. Preliminary results from this study show that trauma incidents in RI disproportionately affect the elderly and Black/African Americans, though the most common types of trauma injuries do not significantly differ from national trauma injuries. Using trauma registry data from state and national sources, a computational approach is useful in identifying state-level trends to inform future policy.
