Abstract
Joe Caffey remembers the neighborhood where he grew up, the activities of the kids in the neighborhood, the house that his family had just bought before the neighborhood was slated for urban renewal and clearance. He also reflects on the history of urban renewal and gentrification and how neighborhood planning and ideas about rejuvenation have changed since then. He currently works as the executive director of Omni Development which builds affordable housing for elderly and low income residents and touches upon his experience with housing and neighborhood planning from his career experiences in city lanning as well as his personal experience of displacement
