- Darrel Waldron, born in 1959, grew up in the West Elmwood neighborhood. He describes many aspects of the neighborhood he remembers, including racial tensions within the community, factories and industrial work, and childhood recreation. He also discusses the indigenous community that used to live near Mashapaug Pond and some of the important institutions associated with it.
