<mods:abstract>Ophthalmic graduate medical programs have moved towards the integration of virtual simulation technology into resident cataract surgery training. However, there is a dearth of published virtual surgery curricula. We present a simulation-based cataract surgery course that can help transition ophthalmology residents to the operating room. There are two components to this course: didactics and virtual surgery. New features of the 2017 edition include more coverage of the American Academy of Ophthalmology "Lens and Cataract" series, a new section on the ergonomics of cataract surgery, and the incorporation of mental skills training.</mods:abstract>
