- Abstract
- Sex Ed by Brown Med was founded in 2014 by Brown medical students in partnership with Central Falls Public Schools in order to address a need for sexual health education for 7th graders at Calcutt Middle School. The program aims to increase sexual health knowledge among adolescents, facilitate healthy decision-making and relationships, and support efforts to address rates of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. Now in its fourth year, the program serves 170 seventh graders per year with the support of 40 medical student volunteers. Moving forward, Sex Ed by Brown Med is collaborating with Central Falls School District to expand its sexual health programming, offering a spectrum of resources for parents and students from 4th grade through high school.
