    <mods:abstract>In this essay the author writes about his research on male sex workers in China and finds that "sex, work, desire, money, pleasure, intimacy are all components of sexual transactions, at once distinct, entangled, and compatible. It’s like dropping different-colored liquids into a bowl of water: It is impossible — and in the author's opinion unnecessary and meaningless — to try and separate them."</mods:abstract>
