Abstract
In this interview, Cynthia Burdick Patterson describes her upbringing; her freshman year at Bryn Mawr College; her marriage and transferring to Pembroke; married life in college and its effects on her social life; meeting fellow students through field hockey; and her support of academic requirements. She then discusses her life after Pembroke, raising a family, her volunteer work, and the social perceptions of gender expectations and marriage.

Cynthia Burdick Patterson was born on February 26, 1942 in Wilmington, Delaware. After completing her senior year at The Westover School, she attended Bryn Mawr College before earning her AB from Brown University and later studied for her MBA at the University of Rhode Island. She served as Director of Development for the Lincoln School and the Audubon Society of Rhode Island, and as a trustee of the Gordon School, the Women & Infants Hospital of RI, and the Providence Athenaeum.
