- Este artigo tem por finalidade assinalar o contributo histórico de Pierre Hourcade para o conhecimento e a divulgação da obra poética de Fernando Pessoa no estrangeiro, nomeadamente nos países de língua francesa. Hourcade, que teve o privilégio de conviver em Lisboa com o poeta, de quem era amigo, entre 1930 e 1935, foi não somente o seu primeiro tradutor mas também um pioneiro ao afirmar, em vários artigos, publicados desde 1930, que Pessoa era o mais importante dos poetas portugueses e um dos maiores nomes da poesia mundial. Pelo seu relacionamento com Fernando Pessoa, a visão de Pierre Hourcade sobre o homem e a obra constitui uma referência imprescindível no universo pessoano.

- This article intends to focus on and highlight the historical contribution of Pierre Hourcade to the knowledge and dissemination of the poetic work of Fernando Pessoa abroad, particularly in French-speaking countries. Hourcade, who had the privilege to share life experiences in Lisbon with the Portuguese poet, to whom he became a friend, between 1930 and 1935, was not only his first translator but also a pioneer by stating, in several articles published since 1930, that Pessoa was the most important of the Portuguese poets and one of the most outstanding in world poetry. Because of his relationship with Fernando Pessoa, Pierre Hourcade's view of him as a man and as an artist is of high relevance as a reference in Pessoa's poetic universe.
