Abstract:: Edita-se uma carta inédita de Vergílio Ferreira sobre Fernando Pessoa, enviada a Leyla Perrone-Moisés em 1982. A carta dá prosseguimento ao longo diálogo do romancista com a obra do poeta, iniciado de maneira polêmica em 1951-52, como uma reação dos escritores neo-realistas da revista Vértice à fama crescente de Pessoa. Eduardo Lourenço e Adolfo Casais Monteiro reagiram à critica negativa dos polemistas de Vértice. Essa carta revela que Vergílio Ferreira, depois de três décadas, mudou sua visão de Pessoa, mas não inteiramente. Reconhece então a grandeza do poeta, declara-se seu admirador, mas mantém alguns argumentos contrários à sua obra, como as acusações de artificialismo e de vacuidade.; What follows is an unpublished letter about Fernando Pessoa, written by Vergílio Ferreira and sent to Leyla Perrone-Moisés in 1982. The letter continues the long dialogue of the novelist with the poet's work, which began in polemical fashion in 1951-52, as a reaction from the neorealist writers of the Vértice magazine to the growing fame of Pessoa. Eduardo Lourenço and Adolfo Casais Monteiro then reacted to the negative criticism made by the Vértice polemists. This letter reveals that Vergílio Ferreira, after three decades, changed his view of Pessoa, but not entirely. He recognizes, at this later date, the greatness of the poet, declares being his admirer, but sustains some arguments opposing the poet's work, such as accusations of artificialism and vacuity.
