Abstract:: A Coleção Fernando Távora inclui vários documentos relacionados, mais de perto ou mais tangencialmente, com a morte de Mário de Sá-Carneiro, nomeadamente cartas enviadas a Fernando Pessoa a respeito do tema. Entre elas destaca-se o texto de uma carta de Raul Leal a Pessoa, escrita a 7 de Maio de 1916, em que o filósofo reage à notícia da morte de Sá-Carneiro, que lhe fora enviada por Pessoa, procurando descrever a forma como ele mesmo a teria somatizado, e teorizando a respeito dela. A teorização de Leal procura abarcar a sua própria espiritualidade, uma projeção astral das suas emoções, que ecoa a então recém-apresentada teoria da relatividade, e a crença no valor redentor da obra artística. Este artigo contextualiza a relação de Sá-Carneiro com Leal, revisita as cartas de Leal para Pessoa e Sá-Carneiro conhecidas, transcreve a carta em questão, e sistematiza aspetos principais da argumentação e do estilo lealinos.; The Fernando Távora Collection includes different documents related to the death of Mário de Sá-Carneiro, namely letters to Fernando Pessoa. Among them, a letter from Raul Leal to Pessoa is of particular interest. In it, Leal reacts to the news of Sá-Carneiro's death, sent by Pessoa, by describing how he himself had somatized it, and by theorizing about it. Leal's argumentation brings together his own spirituality, an astral projection of his own emotions, in which he echoes the then recently presented theory of relativity, and a defense of the redeeming role of the artist and his work. I contextualize Sá-Carneiro's relation to Leal, revisit the letters sent by Leal to Pessoa or Sá-Carneiro known thus far, transcribe the newly found letter by Leal, and systematize the main characteristics of Leal's reasoning and style.
