Central image of the painting remains very well preserved, though there is extensive damage to the border. Paper edges have been eaten away and contain numerous holes. Pigment quality within the image is very well preserved with extensive gold and metal leaf. A relief or impasto technique was used throughout the figures which gives the ornamental details a 3-dimensional quality.
