- Peter Russell is not an unknown name in the e-Journal of Portuguese History, since, at the time of his death, this journal published a small dossier devoted to his work, with studies by João Gouveia Monteiro, Maria Cristina Pimenta, and Stefan Halikowski Smith. Nonetheless, it seemed interesting to include a paper on a book by this author in the program for this symposium. In fact, what has been written about this historian discusses his biography and work in general terms and, in addition to the traditional book reviews, there is no text specifically dedicated to his most important work, 'The English Intervention in Spain and Portugal in the Time of Edward II and Richard II', published in 1955. This paper seeks to fill that gap.

- Peter Russell não é um nome desconhecido para o e-Journal of Portuguese History, dado que, na altura do seu falecimento, esta revista publicou um pequeno dossiê dedicado ao seu trabalho, com estudos de João Gouveia Monteiro, Maria Cristina Pimenta e Stefan Halikowski Smith. Mesmo assim, fez sentido incluir um ensaio sobre um dos livros deste autor no programa para este simpósio. De facto, o que já foi escrito sobre este historiador aborda a sua biografia e obra em termos gerais e, para além das resenhas tradicionais dos livros, não há um texto especificamente dedicado à sua obra mais importante: 'The English Intervention in Spain and Portugal in the Time of Edward II and Richard II', publicado em 1955. Este ensaio pretende preencher essa lacuna.
