The Accuracy of Intraocular Lens Power Calculations in Cataract Surgery at a Teaching Hospital
Abstract
Cataract surgery is the most frequently performed surgery in the Veterans Health Administration, the largest integrated health care system and the largest provider of health care training in the United States. Advances in optical biometry and intraocular lens (IOL) power formulae have led to continued improvements in postoperative refractive outcomes, but challenges remain in further improving the accuracy of preoperative biometry at different axial lengths (ALs). The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of three commonly used biometric formulae and their relative accuracy for short, medium, and long eyes within a teaching hospital setting
