Precision Agriculture and AgTech: An Industry Risk Assessment
Abstract
In recent years global agriculture has faced adversity; with trials including climate change, water scarcity, loss of arable land, and even workforce shortages. Amidst this reduction in resources, populations across the globe continue to rise. Increasing the demand for food production. Precision Agriculture was borne out of a need to do more with less, and refers to the application of advanced technologies to farming with the ultimate goal of increasing crop efficiency. AgTech became an umbrella term for all Food and Agriculture applications of technology, and has become an industry in its own right. The purpose of this critical challenge project is to explore potential threat vectors introduced through the rise of AgTech and Precision Agriculture. In the absence of a cybersecurity risk framework specific to this industry, this paper proposes a matrix to categorize risks by criticality.
